For new Dataobjects development I am currently using postgresSQL, however I have decided to move to azure to host my applications, so my options are:

  1. Use a azure vm and install postgres on it.
  2. Or move to SQL Azure.

SQL Azure is the easier option within Azure, however I am concerned there may be some limitations for Dataobjects using Azure SQL?

One Answer:

Hello Tony,

DataObjects.Net fully supports Azure SQL.

However Azure SQL itself has some limitations comparing to both regular SQL Server and PostgreSQL:

  • No full text search
  • It's impossible to have database without primary key, thus DO can't handle schema upgrades that involve changing key fields
