Hi!

After some years I'm now playing again with DO, especially with the .net core version of it. i've reread some blog posts about internals and etc. on blog.dataobjects.net to catch up. Unfortunately many valuable blog posts lived on Alex Yakunin's blog page (blog.alexyakunin.com), and those are inaccessible now (http 404). Are there any way to access them? Could you republish them? Many concepts are explained only there...

Are there any information about Orm.Core? Or at least a table on what is working and what is not working in the current version?

Thanks!

One Answer:

Hello,

Welcome to DO again! Speaking of blog of Alex Yakunin, well, it seems to be his personal blog and i don't know much about it.

As for .Net Standard version, we're working on it. For most of it we ported full framework version as is, but some of things had to be changed like working with configuration and some others. Major things work. At first we introduced only SQL Server provider but then ported several more (the once which have client libraries for .Net Standard). It seems to have some problems with serialization in some places. Some of vital serialization parts was fixed in the previous version but some have problems. Some providers have some weak spots I admit, for instance the one for PostgreSQL. I'm fighting with it now - they have changed some very serious things and we have to workaround them if we can. For now our goal is to deliver async capabilities to .Net Standard version I mean queries and session opening. It seems to be ready for Beta release and we publish it any time soon as long as figure out what is wrong with the PostgreSQL client library

Hello. For now the only way for somebody to contribute is giving us feedback about issues if any appear so we can fix them. You can get Xtensive.Orm.Core package from Nuget and try it.

OK, understand. I've emailed with Alex Yakunin. Sadly, the content of his blog is lost. Good coding!
