Where can I read the information about connection URL parameters? I am specifically interested in connection timeout parameter, but would like to find out what other parameters are available. Couldn't google that information.

One Answer:

Hello Bogdan,

Here is the page of DataObjects.Net manual where you can find the basic information about connection urls & connection strings usage.

I'd recommend you to use connection string-based approach as it is simpler & there are plenty of examples on this excellent website.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Dmitry, for your reply, but I've already read that manual prior to posting here, and it says that "actual values and parameters may very with each RDBMS". Does it mean that the parameter names and values of connection URLs match with those of connection strings? I'll try using "Connection Timeout" and "Connect Timeout" as parameter names. And unfortunately I can't use connection strings in my project.

Bogdan, parameters from connectionUrl are identical to those that are used in connection strings. This was done intentionally to prevent the mess.

So in your case the connectionUrl might look like this one:

var url = sqlserver://MyServer/MyDatabase?MultipleActiveResultSets=True&Connect Timeout=xxx
